I have just finished a research project where I recorded the births and
marriages for the families Calder, Gilchrist, Cameron, and McFadyen for the
Islay parishes of Oa, Kildalton, Kilarrow (Bowmore), Kilmeny and Kilchoman. I
included what I could from the 1841 Scotland, a little from Canadian censuses
of 1851 and 1861 and any information from family records of mine and others
that people have provided to me. I tried to always list the source, if not
from church records, in the location given to place of birth. There is also a
good deal of information of these same families in Victoria county in
Ontario I tied as much as I could into families and have posted all of it on

If this is of use to you please use it. I would like to know more of the family
ties as these are not in the church records. If errors are found I would also
like to know as this should be a research tool. If my source is not noted
please ask and I will attempt to provide the information.
