Hi Brian

When I was in Islay last year I took a photo of the old Free Church building
at Port Ellen. Is this the building you referred to as St Columba Hall?

It has the inscription over the door:

"Erected by Ian Ramsay
to the memory of his father
John Ramsay
who lived in and loved Islay"

My great grandparents were married in the Free Church at Port Ellen in 1883,
but I have the feeling that there was a previous building to this one and
they were married in that. Does anyone know?

Some time I'll get my act together and write my version of the Islay
experience for your website Steve, with different photos again!!

Heather Griffin
