Greetings to all,
I would like to be in contact with anyone doing work on the MacPhail family.
The earliest entries in our family Bible lead us to Hugh MacPhail and Mary
McLean, both born on Islay in 1768. They moved to Drumlemble, near
Campbeltown, sometime in the early 1800's, and the subsequent genealogy is
pretty clearly recorded through Campbeltown parish records. But I haven't
been able to establish any Islay links. This summer I did research in
Edinburgh and on Islay at the Museum of Islay Life and the Islay Family
History Center. Though I can find mention of MacPhails in both Portnahaven
and Port Charlotte, I can't tie those names to Hugh. Any ideas?
