There are many short publications on the local history of the small County
of Clackmannan which have been published by the Clackmannan District
Libraries. These pamphlets cover many interesting topics for the parishes
of ALLOA, CLACKMANNAN, DOLLAR, LOGIE, TILLICOULTRY, ALVA, CULROSS,
TULLIALLAN. There are also reproductions of early photographs of the
area. They can be ordered directly from the main library:

I am interested in the following families:
1. John (Ramsie) RAMSAY m. Christian MORISON 27 Jan 1738 Alloa
2. Their son, Thomas RAMSAY b. 1745 Alloa, d. 29 Apr 1818 Alloa,
m. Christian MORISON 14 Jun 1771 Clackmannan
3. Their son, Robert RAMSAY,b. 15 Jul 1776, d. 5 Sep
1857 Lachute,Quebec, Canada, m. Elisabeth STIRLING, (dau. of William
STIRLING and Janet Dow, b. 1776 Craigforth, Stirling, d. abt 1826
Stirling) marr. 31 May 1801 Glasgow
4. Their son, John RAMSAY of Kildalton, b. 15 Aug 1814, Craigforth,
Stirling, d. 24 Jan 1892, Kildalton, Isle of Islay, m. Lucy MARTIN of
Auchendennan,(dau of George MARTIN of Auchendennan and Mary Ann MacLELLAN,
b. 1851 Glasgow, d. 4 Jul 1905, Cairnmore, Isle of Islay) marr. 16 Nov
1871 Auchendennan, Bonhill, Dumbartonshire

In the 18th century I am particularly interetested in finding more
information on the two Christian MORISONS, since the
MORISON/MORRICE/MORRISON families in Alloa and Clackmannan are very
difficult to untangle.
Any further information on John (Ramsie) Ramsay (no. 1).

In the 19th century I would like to find out more information about the
eldest son of Robert RAMSAY and Elisabeth STIRLING, Thomas RAMSAY, b. 1801
in Glasgow, d. before 1838 in USA
