Barbara -
As you consider the ferries -- think about how long it will take you to *get*
to the ferry departure sites (either Oban or Kennacraig). On my last visit,
I decided that it was preferable to fly (a short 40 minutes) from Glasgow and
rent a car at the airport, since I was also short of time and wanted to spend
as much time as possible *on* the Island.
The plane is a small commuter, but then it's a short flight. There are two
flights a day. It is run by Logan Air - but you can book it through the
British Airways web site. (http://www.british-airways.com/).
Of course I was in Glasgow at the time, and if you happen to be in Oban it
might not be an issue. But it seems to me (memory willing!) that the first
time I went -- the drive from Glasgow to Kennacraig was *much* longer than it
looked on the map<g>.
Just a thought.
