Hi Doc M!
Welcome to our list. When you have time, I suggest you check out all the
links on
Steve's/our website. Under "Rawdata" you will find the Bowmore Old Parish
Register (OPR) I suggest you look under "McPhee, McPhie, McFee, and McDuffie".
There are a few "Malcolms" under the baptisms and marriages, but I don't know if
any of them are yours.
In the Blackbook (1828 rental), there is a Niel McDuffie at Esknish, a
neighbouring farm. In the farm lists of 1811, there were "heirs of Archibald
McDuffie" at Esknish.
If this man is an ancestor of yours, you might be interested to know that
Archibald is
listed on the 1780 tenant list at Esknish in "The DayBook of Daniel Campbell of
Shawfield." There are lots of other MacPhies listed there as well in the years
1733, and 1741 (even a Malcolm McPhie at Kilmeny in 1733).
You can also check the Cemetery list on the website, which was compiled by Sue
Visser.
Well, this should give you a good start. Happy hunting!
