Hello Ken,

Marshall Fields is an exclusive department store in downtown Chicago. It's
located at the heart of the city, in the retail district.
The home addresses are located on the south side of the city. The area is
called Englewood. Members of my family lived in that community.
If your forebears became naturalized US citizens, it would have been through
the Northern District Court. You may send an email to the National Archives
and Records Administration, Chicago Regional Office, at
http://www.nara.gov/regional/chicago.html and request a copy of their
declaration of intent, petition for citizenship and certificate of
naturalization. They contain a wealth of information.
Requests for Chicago City Directories can be made to She

I briefly checked the records at Ellis Island, Port of New York, and did not
find Jessie McDonald, Peter McNab or Effie Young. You can make a thorough
