I am not sure but my Uncle is a big history buff and believes with research
that this was the time of the big "potato" famine. A time of little food and
with great prospects for mining in Canada alot moved on. Hope that gives you
some ease in thought. I also hope someone will confirm this matter. I had my
ancestors come over at that time also.
