Hi everyone

Thanks for the info on the book of Islay.

Anyway I was wondering if it would have been common not to have children
baptized . Was it socially acceptable not to attend church? If a couple
didn't marry in the church did they have a civil ceremony instead?

I can't find my Lamonts in the Kilmeny OPRs they were born in the 1820s and
1830s and 1840s. They indicate on the census of 1851 that they were born in
Portnellan, Kilmeny.

I'm just wondering whether there was another church around in this time
period or where they just not affiliated with a church?
