Neil, in research have found a Donald Orr son of Neil Orr and Flora McIntyre, b 26.2.1846. Neil was shown as a servant at Islay House. In 1861 census for Killarow, there is a Donald Orr aged 15 shown as a Baker, residing with McIntyre family at Bridgend. Do you think these may be some of your relations? Wynne
Neil Gordon-Orr <> wrote: Hello, I'm new to this list and have been very impressed by the amount of
effort you all put in.

My name is Neil Gordon-Orr. I live in London, England, and was born not far
away in Luton.

My father Dugald Orr was born at Kintour, Islay on 15 August 1935. He went
to school in Islay before moving to Glasgow (to do an apprenticeship in the
shipyards) and then to Luton. He died in 1995.

His parents were Neil Orr (25.3.1906 - 30.11.1980) and Janet MacTaggart
(born 12.12.1906, died about ten years ago). Janet's mother was Annie Graham
and her father John MacTaggart.

Neil Orr was a farm worker who lived at Kintra and later at Callumkill. He
had a number of siblings including John, Dugald, Donald, Alex, Hesther,
Flora, Annie and Bella and others whose names I don't know. Their father was
also called Dugald Orr and was a farm worker too.

That's about all I know so far. I'd be interested to know if this intersects
with anybody else's research. Anybody know any more about Dugald Orr senior
or his forebears?

I am going to Islay next month for the first time since my grandmother died.
I used to go there every year when I was a child, and now I am taking my
children there for the first time.
