It is still fairly common in the Highlands and Islands for people to have the "sight". A lot of my friends have someone in the family who is gifted. As teenagers we were always going to mediums to have our fortune told. The best being Mrs. Chalmers who lived in Hamilton. She was so accurate it was scary.

My Auntie Chrissie always knew when there would be a death in the family as she always dreamt of my Uncle Sam who died due to his injuries after the WW1. I myself periodically have dreams which come true and according to a medium friend who is convinced I have the gift I don't use it properly.
