Subject: [SCT-ISLAY] LDS Family History Event - Glasgow
Date: Thu, 3 Oct 2002 23:28:30 +0100

There is an article in our local paper advising of an event being organised by LDS called Celebration of the Family which takes place in the LDS Church, Julian Avenue, Glasgow on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd November. It will feature family history projects, static displays, traditional games and hands on family history workshops in addition to a series of guest lecturers.
On Friday will be open from 12 noon to 9pm with guest lecturer Sheila Duffy, journalist and family historian (formerly STV presenter and Radio Clyde Newscaster) speaking on the theme 'Irish Family History Research' at 7pm. She will be follwed at 8pm by Irene O'Brien of the Glasgow City Archives at the Mitchell Library speaking on the theme 'The Mitchell Library Records'.
Saturday will be open from 10am to 6pm with guest lecturers as follows:-
2pm - Margaaret McBryde and Pete Wadley of the National archives of Scotland who will speak on 'Researching Family History in the National Archives'
3pm - Elizabeth McInnes, Director of LDS Family History Centre Kilmarnock who will speak on 'The history of the Genealogical Society of Utah'
4pm - Ann Laird of the Hyndland Local History Group who will speak on the theme 'The West End of Glasgow'

As well as being informative it will be a great opportunity to meet many in 'the know' of family history. I for one will be attending.
