Grant,
Yes, I'm descended from Chistina Fullerton's oldest son Donald, thus my name.
She married an Alexander McKellar from the Inverary area. I suspect they met
in Glasgow. I have Duncan and Margaret's dates fairly documented, but will
provide you with what I have. I would like to "connect the dots" for Janet
as well, so would apprreciate any data that you could provide. As I type
this, I'm looking at Margaret's death certificate. She died March 25, 1894,
113 Frederick Crescent, Port Ellen, Kildalton. According to the census's she
had lived there for many years. The GRO had to send me a typed version, and I
note they had her death age as 95. Since I have her Christening as 1809,
which would put her at 85, I can't be sure of what is accurate.
Christina had three surviving children, Donald, Duncan and Robert Steele.
None of us have any clue how the middle name of Steele came about. Do you?
Anyway, Donald came here to the US, and changed his name to Daniel Fullarton
McKellar. Duncan remained in Glasgow and Robert went off to Australia.
Duncan McKellar's descendants also remain in Glasgow and I am forwarding this
on to them. My second cousin Colin lives in Bearsden, and others live in
Milngavie, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. We are close.
I happen to have a group photo of Alexander and his family, it may be
Christina and others, I'm just not sure. I'm eager to see your picture to
get a comparison.
I'll try to scan the photo and other items of interest tomorrow, but first
I'll try to figure out how to operate my scanner. Wish me luck.
Don McKellar
