Hello,
I think someone else has already said that it depends on the laws of the
country where you live.
Here in France they recently changed. I am English and my wife Scottish -
yes, a mixed marriage also, and our son was born here in France.
The old law was that the child was a French citizen at birth but could
renounce this citizenship at 16, when they had to go into National Service.
Now the child takes his parents citizenship and at 16 can choose to take
French citizenship. (We don't have National Service anymore either)
I think that is right. Anyway as far as citizenship is concerned I am
British, where my wife is concerned I am English, when I watch France play
football (except against England, or if they win), I am French and for
everything else it doesn't matter - I hope.
