Can I be permitted a moment of muse on the dismal Saturday morning in
the UK Midlands?
I noticed that almost all the respondents to the 'Roll Call' were
'expats', only 13 from Scotland and 5 from England - how many born and
bred in Islay?
Folks on here talk about coming 'home' to Islay -surely they have many
'homes' on that basis?
I'm not immune. I only have one g-grandparent from Islay, or indeed
non-English, yet I spend far more time on her than the rest put
together.
I suppose its not just Islay that has this hold. I notice that many
Americans proudly proclaim that their 'folks came over on the Mayflower'
- a couple maybe, but how about the other 64,000?
