Duncan Niven b. 1-1-1787 in Scotland died 1-13-1863 in America

Married 3-6-1814

Flora McDougall b. 1786 in Scotland died 6-12-1856 in America

Bans for their marriage were called at the Round Church on Islay as
follows:

Both young persons in this parish were registered for marriage and were

married 6th of March Duncan Niven and Flora McDougall

Bans were called on the 28th of Feb.

Duncan and Flora lived at Ballitarsin Farm and had three children born
there

as follows: Mary 1814; Isabella 1816; Malcolm 1818.

In 1819 they left Islay and came to America, settling in Anson County,
NC.

They remained there and are buried in a family cemetery. After
arriving

in America they had five additional sons John 1821; Dougal 1823; Malcolm

Carlton 1825 (died in the Civil War); Duncan, Jr. 1827; and Archibald
1829.

After the Civil War sons Dougal, John and Archibald moved to Arkansas
and

their descendants still remain in that area. Duncan,
Jr.; Mary and Isabella

remained in Anson County, NC.

It is believed that Archibald 1740? was the father of
Duncan, Sr., searching

for his siblings and other information about Duncan's Islay
life.

Also seeking other Islay families that came to North Carolina in that
1819 time frame.
