Here's the story: The Parish Registers for the united parishes of
Kilfinichen and Kilviceon prior to 1804 were said to have been lost into
Loch Scridian as they were being taken from Kilfinichen to Kilviceon.
McCormick tells this in his 1925 history of Mull. I don't know what his
source is, but there are no Parish records for this parish on Mull prior to
1804. This would also include the records for the parish of Iona prior to
1804, as they were included in the registers for Kilfinichen & Kilviceon.
The other parishes--Kilninian and Kilmore, Torosay, etc. have records back
to about the mid-1750's. I have the eact dates somewhere if anyone needs
them.
This means that effectively there are no records of births and marriages
for those 2 parishes prior to 1804.
