Helen Ringen sent a copy of the following letter to Roy McGilvary
they are trying to determine which Martin
McGillivary he is. 2 possibilities Martin age 31 Bentinck census Ont who
married 1856 Catherine McKechnie re the mention of brother may mean
brother-in-law. Another Martin McG married Catherine Campbell. Martin
was born on Mull then to Paisley dst Ont. Martin & Catherine ? appears
in Bathgate ND 1877. Any suggestions welcome.

Copy of antique letter sent June 25 by Neil McKecknie, Manitowaning
Ontario 1982. NFI on Neil or where this letter is located.

Mr Dear Brother in order to enform you that your welcolm letter received
in due time we are always glad to hear from you and your wellfare there
we are all of us Enjoying the blessing of health at present.
Hoping this may find each & all of yous enjoying the same blessings now.
I may tell you that Hector or Malcolm did set couse this way at all this
harvest. We heard Malcolm went to his place before harvest. Duncan was
looking for Hecktor but he did not come ?? was very scarce hear this
summer wages was $2 per day all along since the beginning of harvest. I
had to work hard all the harvest myself.

John & Duncan was lucky in getting a good man a peach all through
cutting and stacking we threashed 2 weeks ago all of us had our wheat in
the Alivators, Sandy sold a 1000 bsh. Of ours to day for 60 cnts per
bushel he also sold 500 bushels of Barley for 30 cnts a bushel we have
about 200 bushels of flacks it is worth a dollar a bushel our crops this
year was not so large as usuall but I think it will bring us as much
money. We had only 1/400 of wheat at home. John & Duncan 1/500 each of
wheat oats and Barley was splendid crops.
I will enclse Macks letter in this it came to my adressit was opened
before I got it so I did not know where he was to sended it togheur.

We had no word from Malcolm for along time he is out west of Divles lake
I don't know his address I cannot give you a description of that
country. We are having butiful wether through all this harvest and fall
I am busy plowing every day riding on a gang plough. Sandy is taking up
potatoes thease days.
Dear brother I thank you for the invatation to me to come to see you I
would like to se you and all of you in Canada but I am getting to old
for travaling now I will when the winter came it seames I have to work
all my life as long as I am in this world. We had a letter from Mary
this week. Alec came home from the Gold Country.

I will enclose Macks letter is Hugh it was openedwhen I got it or ?? not
opened.
