Just returned from Scotland and a wonderful trip to Mull! Visited the
Ross of Mull Historical Centre--had a delightful meeting with Jimmy
McKeand. "Hello to Mary McLean Hoff!" What an excellent idea the
centre is--it is filling a real need.
Back in February when I decided to go on this trip I thought it might be
a good idea to do some research on my family beforehand as none had been
done previously. Somehow I stumbled on the Mull web page.. What an
interesting find! Now I'm really hooked!
Here is some of the info I have so far--some not so accurate:
Researching the following names:
1. McDougall---Kilninian
2. McMillan----Iona
3. Stewart-----Appin
4. McCallum----Appin??
5. McColl------??

1. John Stewart m. Catherine McCallum---their child--
Flory Stewart b. c. Appin, May 25, 1783.{I believe this is the wrong
year.} My records also mention Inverchaolain with Flory--I don't know
why. I have two other dates for her birth--1791 and 1795.

2. Flory Stewart m. Donald McDougall of Mull. They lived on a farm
"Tostary" near Kilninian. I think they had eight children--??
1. Mary, b. March 17, 1823
2. Duncan, b. February 5, 1824
3. Isabel, b. July 6, 1825
4. Duncan, b. January 31, 1827
**5. Catherine {Kate}, b. October 31, 1832
6. James, b. 1834 ?
7. John, b. 1836 ?
8. Sally, {Marrion??}, b.September 1,1835
**my ggrandmother

3. Flora McDougall m. Colin McMillan from Iona.
Their children:
1. Isabelle {I believe she just died in April 1999,age
100 years.}
2. Catherine
3. Alexandra
4. John

4. Marrion McDougall married Archie McColl ?

The McDougalls went to Paisley--the McMillans, to Glasgow, when they
left Mull.
Also, I was told that twins run in the McDougall family!??

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who possibly connects to
these families. Many thanks---Joan Northcott
