Many, many thanks to the kind people who went to so much trouble locating
"Gortain a Ghibain" for me, I am even promised a photo.
Now feeling that I can quite genuinely ask questions of this list as my
family spent at least ten years on Mull my next question would be does
anyone have connections with either a DUNCAN McPHIE born Iona, bapt 19
November 1817 a 'fisherman' on the 1841 census or a JOHN McPHIE born Iona,
bapt 10 October 1819, not listed on either the 1841 or 1851 census with the
family but appears on his Mother's death certificate as 'living'. Both
Duncan & John are the eldest sons of DONALD McPHIE born Iona 1794 and MARY
McINNES b.c. Iona 1795. Donald McPhie was the youngest son of JOHN McPHIE
and CATHERINE CAMERON. I have managed to trace some of Donald's brothers
and sisters, most appear simply registered to Kilfinichen but I believe
they were all born on Iona.
