Dear List, and especially Jean,
Thank you so much to all those who helped by answering questions about the
availability of my two Mull books while I have been laid low by 'flu for the
last 10 days. I was astonished to come to my computer and discover quite a
debate raging ! Jean's instructions are absolutely faultless. I know that
some outlets got hold of wrong publication dates right at the beginning. I
can confirm that the BIG book, MULL - THE ISLAND AND ITS PEOPLE, has been
available in hardback since 1st November 2000, and is not officially out of
print yet, although it must be getting very low in stocks. The paperback
date has not been announced, and no price has been decided, although it will
be expected to be about £9 cheaper than the hardback. As for MULL FAMILY
NAMES, published in Tobermory, it is being re-printed once more, and Jean's
advice is right. Brown & Whittaker are issuing a book about Lachlan
Macquarie of New South Wales, which you will probably see on their website.
When I was in Tobermory on 1st March we were having fruitful discussions
about the Duke's 1779 census, but nothing has been decided yet, as it would
be a complicated kind of presentation, requiring a lot of thought. So thanks
to the List also for all the input about that. Gratefully yours, Jo Currie,
Edinburgh.
