Thanks to Alison and Jo for filling in the details on John McPhail and his
shoemaker father from Ardtun. I don't have a family connection yet - but
it's tempting to think that John McPhail senior might have known, or even
trained, my ggg-uncle Angus McEachern (b 1818) who grew up to become a
shoemaker in Ardtun.
Ardachy and Artun don't look so far away from each other on Ian's map.
