List/Listers
I'm just returning to the Mull list after quiet a long absence. As I approach retirement I find that I have more time on my hands (I'm told that won't last long) so I've returned to my "addictive hobby"
.
I have regular access to the LDS Microfilm for the 1841 to 1891 Census and the OPRs (Old Parochial Registers) for North Argyll (ie Lorne and the parts of Argyll now in Lochaber). I am willing to do look-ups for this area.
.
However, please bear in mind that, other than the 1891 Census, these are not indexed and are, in places illegible. It would help if you could provide a Parish name or a locality. Some surnames are peculiar to, or are predominant in, certain Parishes/areas; this helps.
.
Please give me as much information as you can, including family folk-lore however incredible it may seem, and I will try to help you. If I cam't I'll try to point you in the right dirction.
.
18th/19th Century Parishes I cover :
504 Ardchattan
505 Ardnamurchan
506 Ballachulish & Corran of Ardgour (does not include Ballachulish village)
512 Glenorchy & Innishail
520 Kilmallie
523 Kilmore & Kilbride
525 Lismore & Appin (includes Ballachulish Glencoe and Kingairloch)
528 Morvern
529 Muckairn
.
For those not familiar with the area I stay (live) in Nether Lochaber (Inverness-shire) a Parish in the Argyll Presbytery of Lorne. No matter which way I look out I see Argyll.
.
Good hunting
Les Horn
Onich

My Surname interest Scott & Miller "strays" from Dumfries-shire in Argyll
