HI,
I am looking for anyone who may be researching the MacKinnons of Mull, in particular "The MacKinnons of Mishinish".

1. John Balban, 27th Chief of Clan MacKinnon married Katherine MACLEAN of Coll, d/o Lachlan, VI Laird of Coll. They had Lachlan "Mor" MacKInnon, 28th Chief.

2. Lachlan "Mor" MacKinnon married 1st Mary MACLEAN and had John Og, (29th Chief), and Donald. He then married Moir MACLEOD c. 1678, d/o Donald MacLeod and Margaret FRASER. He died 1711 in Scotland. Lachlan and Moir had John (Ian) who became Ian 'na Mishnish, Chieftain of the Mishinish Branch, and a daughter, Margaret.

3. Ian (John) MacKinnon married Anne MACDONALD, d/o Donald MACDONALD and Margaret MACKENZIE. Ian and Anne had Eleanor, Donald (?) John and Ranald.

John married in Scotland to (?) and had 12 children;
John married Margaret Affleck c. 1792. d. abt. 1818
Martin, Sgt. d. Abt. 1815 Manchester, England
Norman
James
and eight daughters (names unknown).

John then came to Nova Scotia in the military and eventually was given grants of land in Yarmouth (Chebogue) area of Nova Scotia.

I have been trying for years to make connection with any descendants of John's who remained in Scotland. I find it strange that he would move to another part of the world and leave his 12 children behind.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone on this list?

Thanks
