Hi Anne and All

Regarding this letter from Archibald McG from King twp., Ont to John
McLean at Shiba, Ross of Mull. This might be a long shot.

Have you ever followed up on the numerous persons mentioned in this
letter as being from Shiaba in the 1841/ 1851 censuses?

Somewhere along time ago I was told (before sources were so vital) that
the JOHN McLean brother of Mary McLean Hoff's (Donald) and my (Ann) had
married a unknown McInnis. After reviewing your letter I checked in the
IGI and found the following with John McLean and McInnis:

Descendants of John * McLean
1 John * McLeanb: abt 1790 in Knocknafenaig, Isle of Mull, Argyl,
Sct
.+? McInnism: March 26, 1818 in Kilfinchen, Kilvickeon M115422,0321,
& 7007506, 33
.2 Allan McLean: May 8, 1819 in Kilfinchen 7012005, 26
.2 Donald McLean: August 6, 1821 in Kilfinchen 7012005, 26
.2 John McLean: September 14, 1823 in Kilfinchen 7012005, 26

I then rececked the information I received from Jean Whimp on the
McLeans of Shiaba from the 1841 and 1851 census..

As Archibald was writing to nephew John McLean, there's a possibility
that the first family in h/h # 4 (1841) could be the nephew in question.
If that were so then maybe, just maybe I've located the unknown (Mary)
McInnis, (and a connection for us) as well.

I've snipped all information except the names in question below.

If anyone can shed some light on the others please post it through the
list.
thanks

Neil McGilvray who left Shiaba (note from Roy: "I think I have him")
and his wife and daughter and the youngest bairn.

Malcolm Campbell and his wife died.

Also and a daughter of Alexander MacDonald of Suie who left Iona.

Robert Campbell who left Shiaba died.

John, my uncle's house where I stayed more than 3 months.

Tell Lachlan that his father is anxious to see him and if he can see an
opportunity to come next year or his son at any rate.

I have seen John McGilvray who left Shiaba (Roy's note: =1845 I think),
going to Owen Sound.
Archie his son.

Tell Archie MacKinnon that his brothers are well. Donald
