Hi everyone,
I was hoping someone might be able to help me with my research into the McInnes family. They came to Australia in 1848 I think. I have found an entry in the Assisted Passenger lists and the family seems to match mine - names and ages.
Dougald McInnes - 36; Mary [nee McDonald] - 35; Mary -13; Alexander - 10; Duncan - 8; John - 6; Janet [Jessie] - 1.
I have found birth entries for all of them but the problem is the birth entries all say Iona, Argyll and the immigration paper says born Ross, Argylshire.
Are these places close enough to make it possible to be the same family or not?
Can anyone help me with anymore information?
