Subject: PATERSON Donald - Kilninian and Kilmore baptism 1813
Date: Mon, 30 May 2005 20:21:50 +0200

My 2x G Grandfather Donald PATERSON was baptised in the above parish on 23 May 1813 and the OPR from Scotland's People shows his parents to be Archibald PATERSON and Catharine MCDONALD. The couple had 2 other children Margaret and Flora baptised in Glascow in 1819 and 1822 respectively.
By the time of the 1841 census Catherine is a widow and appears together with the children in the Iochdar area of South Uist. Donald was a tailor and this may provide a clue to Archibald's profession. The fact that Catherine is found in South Uist as a widow may suggest that she originally came from the area.

Aside from the above I have no information on the couple prior to 1813 . Is it possible that the original parish record may provide any more information? Did they possibly get married in the Parish? Was Archibald originally from this parish ?

Any assistance in solving this puzzle would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
