List:
Might I add that I am also researching Lamont.
My GGGrandfather, Niel Lamont...death certificate 7JUN1855 at age 35 in
Tobermory:
Parents listed as Donald Lamont, Feuer Tobermory and Catherine MacDonald.
Wife, Jane Campbell.
Children: Donald (deceased), James (deceased), Mary 10 months (my
GGrandmother).
Informant: Donald Lamont, brother.
I have this Niel Lamont's marriage: FHL Film #1041080 1851- Lamont, Niel
seaman Tobermory and Jane Campbell, daughter of Donald Campbell, residing in
Tobermory were married on the 21st January 1851 by Reverend David Rofs
(Ross?) Minister of Tobermory.
On the 1851 Census of Breadalbane Street, Tobermory: Niel 31 (says he is
born in Tobermory) and Jane Lamont are living with her father and brother.
On the 1841 Census of Backlane, Breadalbane Street Tobermory (ED #4 Page 3)
Niel Lamont at age 20 appears to be living with his mother and
siblings...but his mother is Mary..not Catherine Lamont as I expected: Mary
Lamont 40 Y, Niel 20 Y, Catherine 12, Flora 7, Donald 5, Ann 50.I then tried
to find Niel's siblings in the 1851 census and they are on page 6: Donald
Lamont Head age 16 Scholar, Catherine Lamont sister age 10, Mary Rofs niece
age 8 and Eliza More Niel (?) visitor age 16.
I have been madly pouring over the Parish Register film 1041080 in
preparation for MUGG looking for Niel Lamont's baptism to no avail. But I
did find 2 children of Donald Lamont and MARY McDonald:
5FEB1823 Alexander s/o Donald lamont and Mary mcDoanld of Tobermory
25APR1824 Anne d/o Donald Lamont and mary McDonald of Tobermory
The IGI is leaving me a bit confused as it lists a marriage of Donald Lamont
and Mary McDonald in Kilninian and Kilmore 14MAR1815....with 2 of the
children I had found in the OPR film...but doesn't give a film number..just
submitted by a member of the church.
Am I looking at the wrong Parish film?! Any and alll suggestions
welcome...as I have just 2 more Tuesday nights before MUGG to find something
more deffinitive on this film at the FHC near me.
