Michael: 1871-9=1862 plus or minus. There are eight Alexander Stewart born between 1860 and 1863 in IGI extractions for Argyll--any fit? Census taker would not count someone who died a year before! Another option--wrong first name was heard by census taker or 80 yr. old grandma misspoke.
