G'day Kincardine listers.
I'm a (long-time) ex-Aberdonian (b. 1937) living in Sydney, and am trying to
make sense of my gmother's detail-free photo album. One photo, of a classic
NE granite bay-windowed semi-detached house with small gables over the
bedroom over the front door, is captioned "Kilcruik, Stonehaven" and I know
it could be where my dad was brought to from India in 1910 to start his
education, staying with his Uncle James Brown in Stonehaven.

Members of the family, including my father about age 6 in a kilt, are
clustered round the front door, one young man wearing a straw boater, and
ladies in Queen Mary-style "toque" hats! I'd love to know if the house
still exists, in what street, if anyone knows Stonehaven well enough. I can
then try to check the PO Guide to confirm the owner's name.

The name Kilcruik appears in the glass over the front door of the one on the
left (I can't make out the name over the door of the other semi). The front
is the typical waist-height stone wall with railings and wrought-iron gates.
(These would have been taken for steel during the War, I expect).

I expect it would be in what is now an old inner suburb. If anyone is
interested I can send a scanned copy of the photo.

Many thanks,
Alan Stewart Brown, Sydney
