Hi Carole: I have been away since early Wednesday.
Husband and I went to Nashville to be with his oldest daughter who had surgery yesterday-5Lb tumor removed...
She is doing well, very sweet person, single 44.. Y our
will be remembered in our prayers, we have all nite prayer
tonite,
You have certainly struck a big cord with me. I was always
told that daddy had a son somewhere, named, Charles!!! and
too you can be right, that G'pa had two families, because we
don't know his history. Its true that they had a construction
company dealing with wood and only God knows whatelse.
I have run oddles of McClellans' from the Ancestry .com
and I assume that they are in the Ms. area
MY daddy was named Charles and he had another
wife, name Florence-she had kept insurance on him all those
years and when he died, back in 1963, she had my now late
cousin Lula Ethel Hill to contact my mother for a death certificate. Lula died in 2000, has a sister there in Syracuse
who we keep in touch with, her name is Ollie, she is in her early 80's. She can't recall much about our grands-but knew
them and recalls when G'mother was ill etc. she was only
about 7yrs. old and did not understand what was going on.
As you know, kids then did not ask questions, this is why
we are in the search now (Smiles)......
Its no telling Carole, how many McClellans' related to us
are scattered all over!!! I just would like to find ONE of age
to tell us. I have plans to order a phone book from the Ms.
area to see if I can find some, yet better might do a search
via internet, but they could have a listing in another name, but
for sure, I plan to stick with it until I feel that we have the right
connection.
What age is your husband? we had been told that Charles
lived in the Chicago area at one time, was not sure. Emma
lived in Philadelphia. You know, this family? (smiles) seems
like a mystery!!!!I never heard my daddy mention his family!
not even his mama or daddy. Madear (my sweet mom) told
me that the Irish girls really did like the mcClellan men which
was a big NO!!NO!! then in Ms. and that a Irish person over
heard some whites talkingabout coming to the house with
a posse to get Charlie-(my daddy) they was very tall and
good looking the two brothers I knew and daddy.
Madear said, the man came to the house and told G'ma
Lula to find Charlie and tell him don't come home-G'ma Lula
went thru the back woods, to find daddy who was working
and told him-he either ended up in Memphis where he met
and m arried madear, she was in her early 20's he was in
his 40's he was 20yrs, older than her. Now when he married
Florence, I don't know and if there was kids, I dont know.
What was your husbands' mother's name? I also heard that
daddy lived for a while in some part of Ark. which is close to
Mps.
Carole, I am sure we will match up somewhere. Keep
the faith, I will too.
Ruth
