Hello Renfrew Listers.

I'm new to this list. I've been tracking various
branches of my family tree in Lanarkshire and have
found that many of those families originated in or
have links to Renfrewshire.

At the moment I'm trying to pin down the details of my
ggggrandmother's birth and parentage. Her maiden name
was Margaret MADOLL and she was born round about 1820
in Busby, Mearns, Renfrewshire. Her father's name was
John. That's all that I know at this point. I
haven't been able to find a birth for her on the LDS
Family Search site or the Scotland's People site.
Part of the problem may be the infinite variety of
possible spellings of her surname. I've seen it
spelled MADOLL, MADOLE, MADDLE, MADELL, MADILL,
MEDWEL, and even MCDOWL.

I wondered if there were any listers out there with
links to or knowledge of families with this surname in
Renfrewshire. I would also welcome any suggestions as
to where I might look next in my search for
information about Margaret's birth and her parents.
