Hi Everyone
Any help would be appreciated in 1. how to approach solving the problem, 2. any info you have on theis Telford family
My g grandfather was William Telford. He was born in the Bewcastle area but we cannot find a birth certificate and don
't know the names of his parents. His tombstone in Freelton, Ontario says he was born on Nov 15, 1810. I suppose that we cannot find a certificate because we have the incorrect year or he was illegitamite and never was registered. One William Telfaire I saw born in 1809 looks possible, son of William Telfords. Another appears in 1812. The dillema is how to settle in on the actual. There is no shortage of Telfords.
He had a brief stay in Chapelry Nickolson Forest prior to getting married. He married Mary Blaylock of Moat Common on 13 Dec 1832 at Kirkandrews-Upon-Eske. I have a certificate copy of this marriage but no names are given of parents. The marriage was witnessed by
William and Mary em igrated in 1858. William and Mary TELFORD came to Canada in 1858, arriving at Hamilton on 5 August.
The name Telford has several variations. Mary recorded the surname of the first five children as Tealford while the remainder were Telford. It is sometimes recorded as Talford or Telfaire
William and Mary had 10 children all born in Bankhead, Crosby Upn Eden. We have birth records or christening records for them. Tehy were christened at Kirkandrews Upon Eske at C of E.
