It isn't a matter of proving or disproving either the existence or
nonexistence of any deity. It is a matter of logic. The genesis myth cannot
be proven in any manner except with the use of documents which are themselves
based in a mythological beginning of the Jewish race. I cannot prove the
existence of Charlemagne, for instance, except with documents from sources
other than Charlemagne. The existence of Adam must be proven with documents
other than those created by "believers". There is no documentation of any of
the genesis tale except by reading the genesis tale. This is circular logic
and fails the test of truth.
All religion must be viewed for what it is. Religion is a device
devised by the rulers and their running buddies to control the populace.
Most of the older religions worked by fear. Christianity, as it is known
today, is a soothing religion. Everyone goes to a special place when they
die; Heaven. Even if you have been "sinful" in your lifetime you can join
the church at the last minute and still go to Heaven. That's just wonderful.
But Christianity wasn't always this way. Look at the crusades. Look at
what Richard I of England did while on a crusade. Look at the dissension
between the different sects of Christianity. How many have lost their lives
and/or been tortured in the name of one sect or the other?
I have gone back and reread you note and I still construe it to mean
that since Jessica is so young her thinking is in error. If this is not
what you meant, then I withdraw my complaint on that item; but you have not
convinced me of your meaning as yet.
