Hello,
Alexander II, King of Scotland, was b. 24 Aug 1198 & enthroned 6 Dec
1214. He m. (1) 19 Jun 1221 to Joan, dau. of John "Lackland," King of
England (she d.s.p. 4 Mar 1237/8). He m. (2) 15 May 1239 to Marie, dau.
of Enguerand de Couci, Sieur de Couci and by her had his son &
successor, Alexander III. He died on the Island of Kerrera 8 Jul 1249
and was bu. in Melrose Abbey (Burke's Peerage, 101st Ed., p. xcviii).
I believe you are confusing Alexander's wife with the later Joan of
Acre, dau. of Edward I, King of England. She m. in 1290 to Gilbert de
Clare, Earl of Gloucester (1243-1295). See the Complete Peerage, Vol. V,
pp. 702-708. He did not have a daughter named Isabel and no Isabel de
Clare married Alexander II.
Sincerely,
Kelsey J. Williams
