Your e-mail was interesting, Janet and will add some details to the
Yell Tree given to me by Margaret Robertson many years ago.
From the death certificate of my great-great-grandmother Charlotte Johnson
I found that my Bartholomew Johnson was married to Jane Blair,
whether in Yell or after he came to Lerwick in1798 ( one of my great mysteries).
He later married a Grizel(mentioned in the Poor Law Notes)
He was born in Bouster 21.8.1770 and sometimes had the surname Gilbertson
because his father was Gilbert Basil Johnson who was married to Jane Robertson,Bouster.
Gilbert's siblings were Robert,Bartle(there are an awful lot of Bartles in Yell--possibly because of a saint's chapel there?),Andrew,John and Henry(unmarried). Their parents were the John Robertson and Isabella Bartlesdaughter you mention. Going back next generation Robert Johnson m.to Ingagerth Robertson and then further back, John Manson of Udhouse,Basta and then Magnus Robertson of Helyrsness,Fetlar who moved to Udhouse,Basta,Yell. Alan who is on this same Tree worked out that we are seventh cousins!
I do have some more names on the branches of this Tree. I would also like to add that I never regard
my Trees as being absolute so if anyone disagrees with this I would welcome a discussion.
