This was sent to me following a listing from Gore deaths with Shetland Isles as their birth place.

You may already have all of this information, but it may also be of interest to others on the list.

Thomas Stout married Martha Anderson 8 May 1862 at Lerwick Shetland Islands.
Thomas had previously been married to Margaret Smith and had children. Margaret died 2 October 1858 in Lerwick. Thomas died 11 March 1879 at Lerwick. Martha emigrated to New Zealand about 1881.

He emigrated to New Zealand on the "Taranaki" , sailed from Greenock 7 November 1878
He studied law at Otago University, B.A. 1884, L.L.B 1887
Practiced at the Dunedin firm Sievwright & Stout
Left law to take up farming at Wyndham for a short time
Later a partner at Invercargill of Hall, Stout & Lillicrap
He is on the 1893 Chalmers electoral roll at Ross street, Roslyn
He is on the 1905 Invercargill electoral roll at Filluel Street, Invercargill
He died 16 September 1938 at 59 Filluel Street, Invercargill
He was described as a leading mason, a keen horticuturist & apiarist
and served on the Acclimatisation Society and Library Committee
Married Louisa Helen Strachen 13 March 1888 at the house of
William Strachan in Dunedin
