I hadn't heard of much evidence of the Stewart line, prior to the 'arrival'
of the children of James V of Scotland in Orkney and Shetland.

I would suspect that your Shetland origin is not likely to predate that
period.

Regretably early 1700s records are virtually non-existent, especially
records of births, baptisms and marriages.
I did check the Gifford Rental of 1716, but there was no mention there.

It would be fantastic if a link could be found, maybe one day ....
