Dear Listers,
I was searching Tony Gott’s data base for a maternal
James Peterson born in Whiteness,18th century when I
found another of that name in Cunnister North Yell
who may be the father of our ancestor,John Jamieson
on my father’s side. On John's death certificate in
Lerwick just after certification started his parents
are given as Peter Jamieson and Catherine Scollay.
The wife of the James Peterson on the data base was
Catherine Scollay but all their children, including
'my'John were Jamiesons according to the method of
patronymics. Going down a sibling's line I find the
surnames More and Nisbet which was given as a middle
name to one of my great-grandmother's siblings.
After many years it looks as if I may have located
this branch. Is anyone else connected to Cunnister?
>From Rosemary in snowy Aberdeen.
BY the way I am sure winter was much more severe
here in years gone by.
