Stenhouse Castle was in Stenhousemuir - it overlooked Carron Dams at the east end of Stenhousemuir. Originally it was separate from Stenhousemuir but as the village expanded it eventually took in the smaller vilage of Goshen and the castle so that they fell within the boundaries of Stenhousemuir. The only remnant of Goshen in my day was the long hill that led down to the damms and which was called Goshen.

Mr Fairley was the minister of Larbert and Dunipace. The Larbert part of the Parish was centred on Larbert Old Parish church situated at Larbert Cross. I notice from the map that part of Old Larbert village close to the Church was called Castlehill. There is also a Burnhead Lane in the vicinity of the Larbert/Stenhousemuir boundary. It may well be that Burnside Castle was the name of a house in that area - there are several large Victorian villas in that area which would fit with the woman posible being a domestic servant in one of them called Burnside Castle. The valuation rolls might have information that contained house names.

Sorry I cannot be of more help.
