I give below a message picked up from another list, which I would like you
to observe on this one.

Hello Lists,
Rootsweb Admins (the folk who actually look after the servers)
have requested that list owners (ie me) remind you all that during the
present difficult times in the Middle East no disussion whatsoever takes
place on the lists relating to events as they will (I was originally going
to write "may" but matters have moved on apace within the past few hours)
very shortly unfold in that area. Please bear in mind that the lists that
both I and others admin, have subscribers in many of the countries which may
be involved (on both sides) in a future conflict and not everyone may hold
the same views as yourself. I know from mails received by me over the last
day or so, that there is a huge amount of animosity towards two European
States. This position is not the fault of individual subscribers to the
lists from those States and I hope that you understand that I won't tolerate
any backlash towards people with whom I have the greatest respect both for
their genealogical knowledge and their helpfulness to others on the lists.
They have virtully no say in the current political situation.
Please remember that that the two most inflamatory subjects in an exchnge of
views are Politics and Religion.
Religion I accept is the mainstay of gen lists, but Politics is a big no-no
for the present.
If you want to shout at someone, or just get matters off your chest, please
just mail me directly and shout at me, not the lists, don't upset others on
the lists or keep it bottled up for a future occasion. I won't hold it
against you at all, I'm not like that, and you definitely will not be
unsubscribed. It's a difficult time for many of us, and I'm very used to
being the recipient of irate mails. You will get a reply from me, without
any retribution whatsoever. I do understand your feelings, from whichever
viewpoint that you may hold.
Thank you in advance for your understanding of our somewhat awkward
position.
