Hi Chris,

I have to confess that I am not too familiar with these records as my
Sutherland research so far has been within the United States. I hope to make
use of the records in Scotland one day soon.

In one part of the article it is stated that the records are to be moved
because they will be in a location that is "unoccupied". Later, the article
states that at location the proposed microfiche collection, a “Staff will
provide advice, assistance and extracts to anyone wishing to carry out
genealogical research." If there is staff available, why not either occupy
the location of the records, or move the records to the location of the
staff? Taking the records out of the county makes no sense at all. I would
certainly not look for Massachusetts records in New York!
