Hi Linda, Bruce,
I had the 'B' disc out for the BVRI, and found the following births for James
Broadfoot and Isobell Douglas:

BROADFOOT, John Gender: Male

BROADFOOT, James Gender: Male

BROADFOOT, Catharine Gender: Female
Christening Date: 24 Jun 1716 Recorded in: Sorbie, Wigtownshire, Scotland

BROADFOOT, Mary Gender: Female

Seems to me there is a possibility of more children because the first birth
recorded here is 6 years after their marriage. The FHL film may have more
information. Seems reasonable to think that there would have been a daughter
named Isobell. (or Isobel <g>)

Hi Linda,

You’re in luck with the OPR record from 1704 that you requested, in that
the bride’s father is named. Here’s what I transcribed from the LDS film of
the Sorbie OPR:

Oct 6. This day James Broadfoot in Cults and Isobell Douglas lawful
Daughter to Alexander Douglas in Baltsire* gave in their names and having
consigned their dollars they were orderly proclaimed and Married October
26. Their money returned.

The writing was difficult to be sure of here. This is my best guess, and I
assume it was an old spelling for what today is Baltier, the adjacent farm
to the south of Cults.

Regards,
Bruce
