Subject: [WIG LIST] Hewitt in North Cairn

My 4G Grandfather's - Joseph Hewitt, son of Joseph Hewitt and Sarah McColm - 1855 death certificate shows him to have been born in North Cairn, Kirkcolm. Despite this, I have always had a suspicion that he was actually Irish which seemed to be confirmed after I saw the 1841 census and the 1851 census for Inch which show him to have been born in Ireland.
Now thanks to the links posted by Meg Greenwood (Beggs brothers) and the excellent work done by volunteers in transcribing the OPR deaths, I have found these entries, any or all of which could be mine and I am wondering again ..
Kirkcolm death register (OPR) shows a Joseph Hewett who died 7th October 1817 in North Cairn - could be the father of Joseph died 1855
1811 death records for Kirkcolm show a Hewitt, wife of Joe Hewitt, who died in 1811 at North Cairn, could this be Sarah McColm?
1820 records show a child Hewett, died 8th June 1820, child of Sarah Hewett, North Cairn - another candidate for Sarah McColm or possibly a sister of Joseph died 1855?
Does anybody know or have any connection to this family please?
Thanks,
Lindsay
