On the evening of Sabbath, Superintendent Murphy apprehended a girl named Allison, on the charge of having stolen 4s from the farmhouse of North Barnkirk during the forenoon of that day.The money was found in her possession and on Monday she was conveyed to Wigtown jail. We undertand she was formerly convicted.

Mr Charles Brown, writer and PF, brought before the court a complaint against Ellen Kays and Rosanna Johnston, (alias "Rosie o' the Cove,") for riot and breach of the peace in Fisher Street yesterday. They pled not guilty. The case from the evidence was fully proved and they were each sentenced to 15 days imprisonment. Also Richard Patterson, hawker, residing in The Barracks, Stranraer, for wilful mischief with intent to injure; also riot and breach of the peace. He pled not guilty, but after evidence had been led he was found guilty and sentenced to 30 days imprisonment with hard labour.
