Steven
I'm glad you have made some progress with your research of Ranald
WILSON and Jessie GILLIES since I last contacted you. It's quite a
coincidence that they emigrated from Haclete in the 1850's as my own 3
x grandparents and other family members also lived there. They were
Lachlan MORRISON c1806 - c1848, and his wife Rachel (ms MACPHERSON) c
1807 - 1894. Rachel's parents were Donald MACPHERSON and Margaret
GILLIES. I don't have much information about Margaret GILLIES except
an estimated birth date between 1785 - 1885 but it's possible that she
may have been related to Janet GILLIES. I would be grateful for any
information you may discover regarding the GILLIES families on
Benbecula.
Kind Regards
Donald Morrison.
