There are both town and township named Twin Brooks, Grant Co., SD, west of Milbank, in the northeastern corner of the state. There were no death records required in South Dakota until 1905. Around 1940, the WPA did a graves registration project, records of which are at the State Historical Library, Pierre, SD. You might also find a church record, a funeral home record, or a cemetery sexton's record. According to the file, Benjamin Fardon STYMIEST (12 Feb. 1811, Tabusintac, NB, Canada - Apr. 1890) & wf. Phebe HYDE (5 Oct. 1820 - Mar. 1890) were buried in Zion Cem., Twin Brooks.

Son James W. STYMIEST Homesteaded in Grant Co., patented 28 Nov. 1900, Twp. 120 - 50, Section 28 NE. James Wm. STYMIEST & Sarah MAINWOOD had son Lester Edward, b. 26 May 1900, Grant County.

Social Security Death Index has
Lester (26 May 1900 - Dec. 1980, last res. Miller, Hand Co., SD)
Mary S. (12 Dec. 1901 - 17 Jan. 1989, Miller, SD)
Glenn (28 Dec. 1902 - 25 Nov. 1989, Lake Preston, Kingsbury Co., SD)
Agnes, (21 N 1910 - July 1982, Lake Preston, SD).

Database of the 1930 Census has these in Hand Co., SD, STYMIEST

James W., b. ca. 1862; Shena {sic, Sarah?}, 1873
Glen W., 1903; Agnes M., 1910
Lester E., 1901; Mary, 1902; Virgina {sic} 1924; Boyd, 1926; Robert, 1929.

I couldn't find most of the family on the 1880 Census, probably because of different spelling. In North Platte R., Crook Co., WY, 1880: LACEY, Frank, 27, IA IA IA, road ranch prop. & stage co. stock tender; wf. Clementine S., 29, NB Can Scot; other Harry ELLIS, 25, IA NY NY.

--not my family / Good Luck!
