Niels CHRISTIANSEN born 11 Oct 1842, Denmark, married Catherine "Kate" Marie TIDEMANN, 09 Aug 1884, in Aurora county, South Dakota, born 16 Apr 1863, Denmark, died 10 May 1937, Plankinton, South Dakota, buried Plankinton (South Dakota) Cemetery. Niels died 06 Feb 1912, Plankinton, South Dakota, buried Plankinton (South Dakota) Cemetery. Niels Christiansen came to America in 1873, settling for a time in Michigan and later in Illinois. In the spring of 1882 he came to Aurora county, and filed a claim in Eureka township. The family lived on the farm continuously except for one year spent in Plankinton and one year spent in Mitchell. Niels Christiansen died from anemia. Catherine: On a July 1993 visit to the Plankington Cemetery, the stones of Catherne and Niels were found in the very back of an older section of the cemetery. Nearby is the stone for Kate's sister Sine. There is a large stone showing a broken column and individual stones with names and dates. His spells his!
name "Niels" and her's says "Mother Catherine". Catherine came to America at the age of 18, living for a while in Clinton county, Iowa. In the spring of 1884 the family came to South Dakota, homesteading in Eureka township, Aurora county, near the town of Plankinton. She died at the home of her daughter Mrs. James Maine, after a lingering illness of heart trouble and complications. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church. Burial was in Mizpah cemetery, which may be another name for what is now the Plankinton (South Dakota) Cemetery.

I. Mathilda CHRISTIANSEN born Jul 1886, South Dokota, married James MAINE. In 1937, Mrs. James Maine was living in Plankinton, South Dakota. Her mother died at her home there.

II. Albert E. CHRISTIANSEN born 16 May 1888, Plankinton, South Dakota, died Jan 1969, Wilmost, Roberts co., South Dakota. In 1937 Albert Christiansen was living in Oelrichs, South Dakota.

III. Charles "Walter" CHRISTIANSEN born 08 Oct 1891, Plankinton, South Dakota, died Dec 1963, Minnesota. In 1912 Charles was living in the Plankington, South Dakota area. By 1937 he was living in Jupiter, Florida and was unable to attend his mother's funeral.

IV. Myrtle CHRISTIANSEN born Feb 1894, Plankinton, South Dakota, married _______ JENSEN. In 1937 Mrs. Myrtle Jensen was living in Rushville, Nebraska.
