When you request information, it's helpful if you can give as many details as you have, proven or only theoretical. By searching, I see that your Lawrence CRANDY might have been William Lawrence GRANDY, and there are several possibilities for Wm. Perhaps you could search the vicinity of Speaker, Sanilac, MI. The FamilySearch database of the 1880 Census there has James GRANDY, 54, NY; wf. Euphemia, 40; & Wm. J., 19, MI. There's also a Wm. GRANDY, 22, he & parents b. Ontario; wf. Ellen, 21, MI, & dau. Cyntha, 1, MI.
In Rives, Jackson, MI, 1880, there was a widow Dora, 41, with son W. Sumner, 21, MI. Could that have been a misreading of Wm. Lawrence?
In 1880, there was an E. P. GRANDY, 27, MI MI MI; Preston, Fillmore, MN. I wonder whether he might be the Enos B. GRANDY that patented land in Jerauld Co., SD, 1 May 1888, Twp. 106 - 66, Sec. 32 SW.
Do you have any idea of the maiden name of Mary, the names of any other children, or the places they lived before or after they were in South Dakota?
