My Fellow Family Researchers:

I am new to this list so, I am unaware of how active it is or how many
read the postings submitted to it. I just wanted to notify or remind
you'all of the Gen WEB site for Day County. I am the WebMaster and
co-coordinator (along with Karen Kambestad) of the site and we are
always in search of data, photographs biographies or just links that
would be of interest to people searching their roots in Day Co.

The URL is HTTP://bcc.louisville.edu/~cps/dayco/ Come by and visit
the WEB site sometime.

A second issue, one that fits nicely with the first, it is a request for
help from a compter literate Day Co. resident with a Laptop. I have
been walking Day Co. cemeteries recording names and dates off of
Headstones for a couple of years now. This is difficult since I get to
the county only once a year. So far all I have registered is Bergen,
Falnes and Skudesnes. I need help with the rest. I nolonger walk the
cemeteries but go to the Webster Court House and transcribe the data off
of 3x5 cards. It is a lot easier. Any and all volunteers are welcome.

A third issue I would like to bring up relates to the possible
development of a Historical Society or Genealogical Society for Day
County. The County already has an exceptional historical museum with a
Board (I assume). This could serve as a nucleus for development of a
society for preservation historical and genealogical data for the
County. This, as with all new development, would require some
leadership from local residents. I would like to assist as much as
possible but, living in Louisville, KY, distance is a problem.

Let's discuss the possibility.
